Do you think playing Skyrim in Spanish with Spanish subtitles would help me re-familiarize myself with the Spanish language?
I used to be conversational in Spanish but have been terribly out of practice for the last few years, to the point where I am embarrassed at how much I've lost. I can understand much more than I can speak, I guess because it's tough for me to bring out the words in my word bank but when I hear them , I go "oh yeah, that's a word I know."
I'm also a pretty casual / moderate gamer, usually sinking an hour or two a day into various games. Which got me thinking, maybe I can combine my love for gaming with my desire to regain confidence in my Spanish vocab. One of my favorite games is Skyrim, which I own on PC & Switch and can set to be in Spanish audio & Spanish subtitles. I think that if I play the game like this, since I am familiar with the dialogue and options in the English version already, I should be able to rebuild that vocab and confidence.
Are there any thoughts, or more effective ways I could go about doing this? I've tried listening to podcasts and watching videos, but I usually find them to either be too dumbed down, or too complex for where I'm at right now.
Let me know what you think!
