Which linguisticians have written books for L1 Mandarin, who hope to self-learn English?

My aunt-in-law prefers a book written in Chinese, but she can understand simple English. One that's bilingual is better still! Thank you.

Requirements

I insist that the author be a linguistician, with at least a PhD in linguistics:

  1. as a filter and proxy for competence and awareness of L2 Acquisition research. Too many English L2 books are written by self-proclaimed mountebanks.

  2. because I've found no English L2 book that introduces relevant linguistic concepts as invaluable aids.

    2.1. Examples: All the books that my aunt-in-law tried never disclose etymology or semantic shifts or semantic fields. My aunt has been learning English for 10 years, and didn't know until I showed her today that "even" as an adjective etymologically relates to "even" as an adverb.

    2.2. None of her books teach basic Morphology, although it's more efficient to learn Germanic and Latinate roots and affixes that are subject to the Principle of Compositionality, like how Latin putare is the root behind "amputate; compute; count ; depute; deputy; dispute; impute; pave; pavement; putative; reputation; repute."
