I began learning french just a couple of days ago and the Michel Thomas course was recommended to me. In listening to the first disk, it was mentioned not to think too hard about it, not to do homework, etc. Basically the implications were to just "absorb" the material, and only pause to say the words/phrases when prompted.
Does this really work? It seems a little counterintuitive. Does it work better if you listen to each disk multiple times? I'm obviously a little skeptical.
