When you think about being C1/C2 in listening what do you associate it more with? Being able to understand complex grammar and advanced topics such as politics with standard rate speech or being able to follow a conversation between two natives talking very fast with lots of slang even if the actual grammar and vocabulary isn’t very advanced?
I ask this question because I see people who are certified C1/C2 in their (TL) who struggle to understand an informal YouTube video without subtitles. Not that they don’t understand the actual language, they just don’t understand it when spoken. But they’re certified. In that case at what level do you actually understand informal speech? C4?
What do you think is harder from a learner’s standpoint?
