Help meeting fluency goals

I am somewhere in the B level of the language I'm learning. I am at the level where I'm no longer learning grammar but my tutor will ask complexes questions to help me increase my vocabulary/fluency and when I make a mistake she will stop me and correct me. A lot of my correction are either tense usages (imperfect vs preterite) or phrase usage ("even though 'x' word means this, we would say 'y"). (TL)
l average about 10-15 corrections per hour class (i speak for about 35-40 minutes per class). I feel like I should have fewer corrections, but my tutor assures me that my language skill is very good.
Does anyone have a similar experience? If so, how did you cut down on these errors to increase fluency?
