Learning one language as a segue for another

I’ve been trying to learn Dari (TL) as I am trying to get more into refugee work. However, there are so many resources for Persian Farsi and not so much for Dari.

Rather than spending a lot of money on niche apps, would it just be easier to kill to birds with one stone and learn Persian and then pick up Dari? Are they close enough to where it would be a pretty easy transition?
