Hello. I am currently at the B1-B2 phase where I progress by working my way through a novel with Google Translate. I am very interested in sentence mining, but long story short it's just not going to happen. I tried to use like 7+ mining programs, spent hours trying to set something up, but my laptop just will not tolerate any of this.
So now that I'm not able to sentence mine or save flashcards, what can I do? The best I've come up with is to go through a chapter, then for the next 3 days reread and relisten to it very frequently all while reviewing a vocab list of what I look up. By day 3 I pretty much have the chapter down and the vocab seems to be sticking.
But I am not sure if this is the best approach or even a good one. It comes out to 3 days spent on one chapter, and that means ~6 books a year.
tl:dr How can I retain vocabulary without flashcards?
