Has anyone deliberately used rest periods as part of their learning strategy?

Since it's fairly common for language learners to come back from a break slightly improved, I'm wondering: does it make sense to plan a learning strategy around taking deliberate breaks?

I've got ambitious language goals this year, but I'm thinking of building in three separate two-week breaks to see what happens. The rest of the time I'll be pushing myself and working hard. I'm curious whether stepping away might actually help rather than slow me down. At the least, it might help with motivation and burnout right? It seems to me like rest might be underrated if it gives the brain an opportunity for adaptation.

I'm really curious to hear if anyone has already tried this and, if so, what were your results? Did you notice any benefits?

...Out of curiosity, I looked into whether this effect has a proper name. I came across a few possibilities: incubation, the offline learning effect, the reminiscence effect, memory consolidation. But I’m not sure which, if any, of these is right. If someone knows, I’d really appreciate it.
