Using AI to make tailored songs in your TL

Note: I am aware that plenty of people dislike AI for many reasons and refuse to use it at all. Perfectly valid. If this is you, kindly ignore this post and keep scrolling, thank you.

I tried this trick recently and it's been AMAZING, so I'm leaving it here in case someone else finds it useful.

Music is one of my favorite listening input methods, but there's the issue that when you are A1 or A2, regular songs are too complex and only serve to "get used to the sound" of the language, at most. To this end, the best choice would be children’s songs, but... As cute as they are, they don't make me want to listen to them again and again.

There's also the case that you simply don't enjoy the genres of music your target language has, or can't find enough of what you specifically like (So what if I am learning a slavic language but want latin music??! Sue me).

But if you can make songs with any lyrics you choose, with any rhythm and style you want (and by this point AI is certainly advanced enough), you can get a great tool for language learning!

You could make a song purely out of "How are you?" "With card, please" "I don't understand" and any common phrases you can think of. Or you could drill grammar structure: "The book is on the table, the book is at the office, the book is in the box". Or maybe vocabulary (think a string of "la mesa y el libro", "das House und der Park" for languages with grammatical gender). Anything you need for your personal learning journey, really. It doesn't have to make sense for anyone else but you!

In my case, I used Claude to come up with "lyrics" tailored to my level and goals. Important disclaimer: The proficiency of an AI depends a lot on how extensive its database on a certain language is. I'm sorry, as I am testing this with a "popular" language such as German and generally work with AI in English, I cannot vouch for its effectiveness with less common languages, although this kind of simple content that doesn't need to sound natural shouldn't end up with as many mistakes. Be as it may, I highly recommend checking where the AI is based to make your choice. If you are going for an Indo-European language outside of the "big names" (English, Spanish, Portuguese, French...) I would suggest using European AIs like Mistral AI or Lumo. For Mandarin, try DeepSeek, and so on.

Once I had the lyrics (and a description of the style that would fit, based on my music tastes), I used Suno to make the music. You can download the songs once you are done. Since this is for personal use, there is no need to pay for a commercial licence.

If anyone is curious as to how the result sounds, here is an example: https://suno.com/s/OA2GiGjIHh0UJiwj

That's all, folks! Let me know if you try it!
