Hello, I have a 4 year old son. We live in Germany but we are from India. So my husband and I speak to each other in our native language. But right from the time my son is born we speak to him in English only. It just happened! Now we think he should know our native language because English he will pick up anyway.He is currently picking up German in Kindergarten. We have decided that i will speak to him in our native language and my husband will continue speaking to him in English. I tried for some days but English come naturally to me when I talk to him and secondly he just does not understand when I start the different language. At the end I get so exhausted that I leave and switch to English. Can someone who faced the similar issue suggest me how to go about it? I wish I had started the second language much earlier and I feel now its too late.
