I suck at my mother tongue, and i feel like a hopeless case.

To sum things up, I'm a native arabic speaker, but I grew up whitewashed. And now I regret not taking the language seriously.
Just a few weeks ago I decided that I wanted to pursue law, half of the syllabus is in modern standard Arabic and I can barely understand slang/spoken Arabic. I've been reading every day out loud with my mom for weeks but I'm barely making any progress. My vocabulary is weak, my reading is slow, and my understanding is substandard. I only have a few months till college and I need to adapt to the environment.

Is there anything I can do to fix that? Any apps? Websites? courses I can take? Things that can improve my vocabulary? Or just advice in general, even if you don't speak the language, would be very much appreciated.
Thank you :)
