I'm trying to learn some Japanese (I've always wanted to and have dabbled in learning before) As we've finally booked our trip to Japan.
I have always struggled in languages for example in top class for every subject in secondary school except French where I was bottom despite going to France every year as a child. It just won't stay in my head? lol
I know a few common words from watching a lot of Japanese YouTubers stuff like convenience store, train station, rice etc very common basic words I hear a lot.
But when it comes to things ESPECIALLY phrases and questions, I just can't get it to stay! I almost threw my phone across the room after todays Duolingo session asking "where is the hotel" vs "the hotel is there" (for example) it was driving me insane and i kept getting is wrong.
And even when i do "learn" something it is usually gone out of my head the next day! Or even after an hour! Am I genuinely just too stupid to learn another language? This is the longest I've stuck at it as honestly I have the tendency to give up as I become so unmotivated and start to feel really stupid and forgetful! But I'm not trying to be fluent, I just want to learn some!
