What language would be best suited to learn for central asia?

I have wanted to visit the countries in central asia along the historical silk road for a long time now. To be more precise:

  • Armenia
  • Georgia
  • Azerbaijan
  • Kazakhstan
  • Turkmenistan
  • Uzbekistan
  • Tajikistan
  • Kyrgyzstan

My question is directed to people living there or having visited some of these countries. What one language would be best suited to learn for basic conversation and understanding while travelling these countries and being able to speak to people in (almost) all of these countries?
