Will English be a language that almost everyone can speak in the future?

I feel that this trend is becoming more and more obvious now. The people whose mother tongue is a small language are very fluent in English, such as Maldives, Thais However, the people whose mother tongue is a major languages are still not very good at English, such as Russians, Brazilians.
