Pearson and BBC Live Classes are back for another season! Teachers and students all over the world can expect a new series of innovative and exciting lessons to enjoy in class or at home.
Last year our expert trainers taught more than 35,000 learners from 81 countries – and this year we have even more classes on offer.
What are Pearson and BBC Live Classes?
Live Classes give students aged 9 – 19 a unique opportunity to join their peers around the world in a truly global classroom. Hosted by an experienced teacher trainer on Zoom, they’ll have the opportunity to:
- Learn important life skills
- Enjoy authentic video from the BBC
- Interact with students from another country
- Improve their English
- See the real purpose of learning English

How does it work?
We offer two different formats, which you can choose depending on your current teaching context:
Live Classes
Those back at school and teaching in a classroom should join a Live Class. There will be up to 10 groups from countries such as Poland, Russia, India, Mexico and Argentina.
The trainer will run the class via Zoom, so you’ll need a big screen, TV or projector, as well as speakers and a microphone. Your students will follow along using the class worksheets (which can be found in the lesson toolkit).
During the class you’ll be put in breakout rooms with other schools and will be invited to take part in communicative activities, allowing students to learn from each other.
Big Live Lessons
If you are teaching online, and your students are at home, you should join a Big Live Lesson. In these classes, students connect directly to Zoom. The content of the lesson is very similar, however, interaction takes place via the chat or using different online tools such Padlet or Mentimeter.

What’s new for Live Classes 2021/2022?
This year we have 14 classes to choose from. The best classes for you will depend on the age and level of your students.
Nine of these (Lessons A – I) are based on different topics such as technology, sports, festivals and food and center around an engaging and authentic BBC video. The lessons are supported by some of Pearson’s most popular courses, such as Go Getter, Wider World and Focus Second Edition.

Speak out for Sustainability Lessons
New for Live Classes 2021/2022, we also have five lessons focusing on the environment. These aim to give learners the confidence to speak out for sustainability and make a real difference. Topics covered include:
- Carbon Footprint
- Plastic and Litter
- Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
- Water Waste
- Deforestation

How do I join?
To sign up for Pearson and BBC Live Classes 2021/2022 visit our registration page.
Choose a lesson that’s appropriate for your students’ age and level. This is important as we don’t want them to be bored because it’s too easy or hard! Find the best time and date for your class and click REGISTER.
Watch this video to make sure you choose the correct time for your Live Class or Big Live Lesson.
Once registered, you’ll receive an email with further instructions. Your lesson access details will be shared with you individually and you will receive a lesson toolkit, including a lesson plan, a pre-lesson task and the worksheets which your students will need in class (either digitally or printed).
Before the lesson, make sure you are ready:
- Familiarize yourself with the lesson toolkit – as the teacher, it’s crucial to make sure you understand the lesson plan and can support your students at different stages of the lesson.
- Download or print the worksheets and share them with your students. Organize your classroom and make sure everyone can see the screen – ideally an interactive whiteboard or TV.
- Check the technical requirements and make sure the audio, camera and internet connection all work.
- Join the lesson 10 minutes before it’s due to start to check everything is working.

What if we can’t attend?
It’s very important that if you are no longer able to attend the class, you cancel your registration. That way, other students can take advantage of this unique opportunity.
