How does the new babbel review system work?

I think Babbel revamped their reviews method a while ago, but I don't understand how it works now.

Before, a single misspelling or using hints/showing solution would allow you to "correct" at the end of your review (of 10 vocab).

Now If you use a hint, or show solution, does your answer get counted as wrong in the system and move down a level? Or does it get counted correct and move up a level? You can't "correct mistakes" at the end of the review session with "show hint/solution" or small typos anymore. You have to explicitly get it wrong
