Should I learn Chinese through English or Japanese?

I'm fluent in both English in Japanese, and I'm currently trying to learn chinese using lingodeer. I started with the english course for Chinese, but I read online that learning it in Japanese might be better, so I switched to the Japanese course. However, when I was talking to a friend of mine, he pointed out that grammatically, Chinese is closer to English than Japanese (SVO vs. SOV and whatnot), and I'm starting to wonder if the only advantage conferred to a Japanese speaker is knowing Hanzi already rather than a more intuitive understanding of grammar. So, what does this sub think? Regardless of the course quality for either language, what do you guys think would be better, learning in English or in Japanese?
