What is a word for a man who lives in his wife’s paternal or maternal home?

There is no specific word for a man that lives in his wife’s paternal or maternal home. There are various possibilities of such living, with the parents living there as well, so the man lives with his in-laws. Even if the man lives in such a home without the in-laws, there is still no singular word to describe him.

However, there is a slur which in-laws might use to describe a man living in such a way. If the husband is not working, and the wife is, the husband basically lives there for free. The in-laws would describe such a man as a freeloader.

A freeloader is any person who lives on other people’s expenses. In this situation it’s the husband who doesn’t earn any money, so basically lives for free in the in-laws’ home. So, freeloader would be the only singular word someone could use in such a specific situation.
