Just as spring is a new beginning, we hope to bring fresh ideas to help primary teachers keep learning and keep teaching with our Pearson English Spring Days: Primary Sessions.
Pearson English Spring Days is an online learning event taking place from 4th – 15th May, 2020.
If you teach young learners, you’ll be able to learn from a number of leading primary ELT experts including Jeanne Perret, Annie Altamirano and Carol Higho.
They’ll offer professional development advice and lots of practical classroom tips on areas such as inquiry-based learning, future skills and preparing for exam success!
What sessions are available?
Below you will discover the different sessions we have available and some more information about each talk.
Please note all times are displayed in BST (British Summer Time). Click here to convert to your time zone.
How to put inquiry-based learning into practice, in the classroom and online with Jeanne Perret
What to expect?
How can we inspire our students? What can we do to build on their own interests and guide them through a path of learning? How can we show and share our own enthusiasm? In this webinar, we will look at how we can encourage and then maintain a thirst for finding out, for learning, for acquiring knowledge and skills; a thirst which starts when our students are toddlers and ask ‘Why?’. We will look at practical ideas and activities which work in large groups in classrooms and then think about how we can chaperone individual, online sessions.
When?
Session 1: Tuesday 5th May at 8:00 AM (BST)
Session 2: Monday 11th May at 3:30 PM (BST)*

How can we use future skills to unlock our young learners’ potential with Annie Altamirano
What to expect?
Communication, Collaboration, Critical and Creative thinking, the four C’s of future skills, long heralded as key competences learners need to acquire, are frequently embraced in theory but what happens in practice?
When?
Session 1: Tuesday 5th May at 5:00 PM (BST)

How to take your Team Together to exam success with Carol Higho
What to expect?
In this presentation I will share activities to develop reading, writing, maths and more through CLIL, designed to help students remember what they are learning. Included will be tasks that let students develop and build critical thinking skills, not just for their exams but as a life skill. Recognising the use of more online materials, included will be top tips and extra practice features for exam prep and specifically how these target preparation for the PTEYL. There will be some ‘brain’ theory but mainy practical activities teachers can join in (and take away) online. All material will be taken from Team Together – with links provided at the end.
