What language can be easiest to start for a beginner to be able to read literature?

I am a native Bengali speaker and fluent in English and Hindi.

I love reading books from all over the world, but unfortunately, I have to read English translations of all these books. I'd like to read more books in their native languages.

What language will be easiest to start with, in order to be able to read a book in that language? I do not need to be able to speak the language, I just need the basic skill to understand the prose with assistance of dictionary.
