Question for people studying Japanese

Hi all,

I've been looking to courses and things for me and a friend to start learning Japanese together to keep each other motivated, and I'm curious about any advice from people about their experiences when starting this language.

Of particular interest is which apps or online courses used as there seems to be little actual courses near me. I'm experienced in studying languages but my friend is much less so, so I'm looking for things which will be good for us both.

If anyone has any particular recommendations so he and I can check these out and find something suitable that would be great :)
