Why are so many Pacific Island languages made out of syllables ending in vowels?

I was pointing out to my younger sibling that the foreign songs in Moana and Lilo and Stitch have similar sounding words because they have syllables ending in vowels. Japan of course is the most well known. Are the vast majority of Pacific languages related, or are CVs just "an island thing"?
