I don't mean using the latin alphabet instead of the language's writing system. I mean have you ever learned a language entirely by ear? Some people use an approach that involves training your ears to perceive the phonemes and prosody of the language, allowing them to first learn the language by sound, then once they reach a certain point, will then learn to read and write. I'm curious if anyone here has had success learning without relying on the script, as the majority of learners do.
