Do you need to know all the grammar rules of your own language before learning another?

For example, my first language is english. However, I do not know all the grammar associated with being an english speaker. I obviously know about noun/pronoun/verb/adverb. I'm speaking more of like conjugation rules, etc. And I honestly don't know if I'm leaving anything out. I want to learn korean but their sentence structure confuses me at times and when they mention the rationales for why it's a certain way, I get confused...
