I have reached a high level of fluency in Korean and Japanese do to some hard years of studying and living in both countries, but now that I’m fluent, I’m finding it hard to just “enjoy” my skills. I’ve spent so much time in text books, Using Anki, etc. I find that I don’t spend time just watching movies or reading books without specific study aims. Does anyone else find themselves in this situation? I feel like I could reach another level of cultural fluency if I could just enjoy different types of entertainment without analyzing every unknown word or grammar structure? It’s like I’m scared I’m gonna forget anything I don’t immediately put into Anki and do flash cards with. Anyone got any advice on how to transition out of a student mentality of a language?
