Flashcards from Literary Translations

Flashcards from Literary Translations

Looking for opinions on this / how to improve this idea

Step 1: Find pdf versions of your novel in your target language and your native language. Ideally, there is also an audiobook available in your target language (I found Bukowski's Ham on Rye in Serbian)

Step 2: Chapter by chapter, plug your novel into Notherwesterns Sentence Splitter program (http://morphadorner.northwestern.edu/morphadorner/sentencesplitter/example/)

Step 3: Copy and paste the numbered sentences from both your native and target language alongside each other in a spreadsheet (these won't line up perfectly and you'll have to adjust slightly. It won't take too long though)

Step 4: Copy and paste your spreadsheet into quizlet using the mass import option.

Step 5: Study at your own pace and read along to the audiobook, flipping your cards when you're unsure about a sentence.
