(No recommendation seeking please) List of video games made/localized/fan translated into other languages

Hi everybody,

I'm sure it has occurred to a lot of people who frequent this sub, who also take an interest in video games, to use video games as a study tool. After all, I'm willing to bet that a lot of us would not have nearly as solid an understanding of formal or literary English, or words for uncommon objects and situations were it not for video games. Now, not that people don't already play video games for language learning purposes, but I feel that information about exactly what video games are available in what languages is not very well documented compared to works in other media. Searching Google for comprehensive lists doesn't yield much. If I search in English I mostly get lists of Japanese games translated into English, and while I can find some decent lists for what games have been translated into Chinese (or are already native Chinese), they are far from what I would call comprehensive. I assume other languages are probably equally hit and miss. Also, it is possible to search Steam by language but the problem is that it's hard to know to what extent the games have been translated. Interface language? Subtitled? Full audio? Last time I checked it seemed like the information provided on Steam is not always 100% accurate, and although if you are patient you can go through them one by one, I find it to be a colossal waste of time for each and every one of us to do it ourselves. There are also many games which will be difficult to find this way. I think you probably have to already be pretty deep in your target language's gaming community to have a good overview of what games are available. Those types of communities are also probably more likely to discuss native materials, after all, why would you play a (probably) inferior translation unless you really need it? If you are a tech-savvy millennial who plays a lot of games and participates in discussion forums, your English level is probably at least adequate enough to be able to mostly follow what's going. To be fair this is probably not so much the case for non-English games translated into non-English languages, where being familiar with the original language is not a given. However, the only language I can think of which even comes close to English's presence in the gaming industry is Japanese.

Anyway, I thought I would gauge the community's interest in collaborating on creating a more-or-less comprehensive list for each other's and future gamers' benefit. I will start off by listing those games I already know about (mostly in Chinese) and then ask those with experience playing games in other languages or have seen proof of localizations/translations to post the title of the game, the platform it is on, language and form of translation. I am also going to be so bold as to say that subtitled games have no business on this list. Only full audio translations or visual novels/RPGs/games with a lot of reading are appropriate (even if the audio is unchanged). To make things easier for me please list off the games in this format:

<Language> <Platform> <Genre> <Title of game (Both in original and target language if applicable)> <Type of translation (Native/translation, audio/text only, official/unofficial)>

You are free to add any caveats or thoughts after that, so long as it is easy for me to copy paste the entries and add them to this post. If you know of more than one translation for the same game, please make separate entries. If somehow a thread like this has escaped my attention or you have any criticisms of the organization scheme, please feel free to leave a comment. Otherwise, please keep top-level idle chatter to a minimum and do not ask for recommendations. N.B. I will only list those games I have personally tested. That means that cross-platform games will probably only be listed as PC games (Windows) until further notice. Simply leave a comment as if you were adding a new entry with the platform you have confirmed has a translated version available.

tl;dr:

-No asking for recommendations.

-No unnecessary top-level chatter.

-Adhere to this format when submitting entries: <Language> <Platform> <Genre> <Title of game (Both in original and target language if applicable)> <Type of translation (Native/translation, audio/text only, official/unofficial)>

-Only submit entries you have personally tested or for which evidence of translation is readily available.

P.S. For those who are really interested in this project, I recently created a wiki on fandom.com called Jeux sans frontières. At the moment it is very bare with only one entry. If you want more information feel free to send me a private message. Also, feel free to add new entries. In the interest of maintaining consistency, please consult the community (i.e. me) before making any drastic changes in the style of entries. I was thinking that all pages should at least have a table listing the available languages and type of media at the top and then maybe add some background info on the writing style and translation process in following sections. To be honest I don't know that much about developing a wiki. I don't have any particularly strong opinions when it comes to the future of this wiki, as long as it can serve as some sort of reference I am happy. Again, for those who are really interested in seeing a project like this succeed, dive right in, or send me a private message and we can coordinate.
