Here's the TL;DR: For my senior thesis, I'm evaluating words that don't translate to English, how the words reflect the culture the specific word comes from, and how, regardless of culture or native language, we can all relate to some of the experiences and feelings these words express.
I believe that experiences are what bring people together. We as humans feel so many different emotions and go through so many experiences that often times cannot be encapsulated by one English word.
It’s a beautiful moment of connection when you find a word for that particular moment or feeling—maybe not in your native tongue—which proves that we are all connected and share similar experiences. Language shouldn’t be perceived as a barrier. It’s a platform to connect with others. This project aims to highlight shared human experiences that go beyond language barrier or physical borders through an interactive website that will allow you to see the different words and people's stories and app prototype that will share a new word a day.
My senior thesis revolves around me getting submissions of people telling a short story (literally can even be just one sentence) of how they can relate to a word. Please upvote this and help a homie out (really trying to graduate!!!)
