In what languages is cursive still important?

So I was discussing language learning applications for learning Russian recently, and one of the big complaints I heard from Russian speakers was that they don't teach Russian cursive. Now as an American who lives in an area where Cursive has been discontinued, and where no one can read any cursive anymore: it was kind of surprising to me to hear how absolutely necessary Russians seemed to consider Cursive for even basic Russian learners. A like a course is totally incomplete if it doesn't teach it.

So I became curious. Not just about Russian cursive, but about all languages that have their own cursive form. How important is cursive in your language or area? Is Russian the only language that strongly prizes cursive anymore? Is there still regions that speak English that highly enforce cursive? What other languages enforce cursive (Or even have it?)
