I’m reading a book incorrectly

Title is supposed to be hyperbolic- there’s no wrong way to do something if it’s working for you/does what you want it to do.

But everything I’ve ever read about learning to read a foreign language says to not get hung up on individual words and to just skip what you don’t know.

I’ve been doing the opposite, and writing down the words I don’t know, making a study list of them as I go along. I feel like it can be a fun approach to be methodical/build your own vocabulary list sometimes too
