Has anyone learned become fluent in a language in classes that they were forced to take by parents?

it seems that it is common for East Asian families to make their kids wake up early weekends to go to Chinese school outside of the regular school system. This seems less common with immigrant families of other nationalities, although I have heard of Hebrew classes for families identifying as Jewish.
