A month ago I posted in r/LearnJapanese how I read books on my PC but this method can work well with any language
A couple things to consider is that you may not be able to use your favorite dictionary website and will have to settle for one that works with calibre.
I have since gotten a Logitech mouse extra buttons that I could program to act as a dictionary button. Using a keyboard as shown in my post works fine but with a mouse it's a bit more convenient.
