One thing I've noticed studying Mandarin is the difficulty I have in remembering names. To me, they're like vocabulary words, but more difficult because they only appear in a single context and there's not a ready-made concept that I can attach to the name. I'm having even more difficulty with Indo-Aryan names—I'm just starting out learning South Asian philosophy/history, and knowing practically none of the language of a name means I can't even make up concepts based on the semantic content of individual words the way I can with Mandarin. Do any of you have tips on how to get names to stick in your head?
