How to efficiently populate vocabulary lists on the fly?

Hi reddit,

I am a native German and consider my English skills to be pretty advanced. I want to get the Cambridge Business English: Higher Certificate within the next few months.

However, the section that yields the most promising amount of improvement for me is vocabulary. No matter how or where, I always come across some word I understand contextually but have no translation for. This holds especially true for very specific vocabulary I am rarely exposed to.

I am looking for a tool that allows me to collect these bits of missing vocabulary and put them into lists to study later. E.g. I like reading The Economist and there Ivencounter new vocabulary on a somewhat frequent basis. I'd like to just highlight certain words/phrases and add them to some sort of database of vocab without much interference for my reading flow/immersion.

I cannot be asked to tediously maintain the practice of highlighting words in newspapers or off of webpages to then write down on index cards etc.

Does anyone of you know of such a tool? Just any way of conveniently maintaining vocabulary lists and shuffling through them for self-testing. Auxiliary functions appreciated, though not mandatory.

Thanks in advance
