How important is accent?

I guess this depends on which language you're learning, but I've seen a lot of people on this sub talk a lot about worrying about their accent. I'm from a small place in the British Isles and have a very neutral British accent (especially now that I'm living in Liverpool and I stick out like a sore thumb against the scouse accent).

I've been learning Hebrew for about a year and a half and, aside from the obvious ח/כ, the only new sound I've really learnt is ר. I haven't focused on trying to sound Israeli or anything.

Am I setting myself up for failure or is accent not a big deal if you don't want it to be?
