Worth Studying Japanese in College?

Hey, so I'm moving into Loyola Chicago next year and still haven't settled on my classes. I'm slightly considering studying Japanese for a couple of reasons.

  • I'm half (My mother is fluent).
  • My sister studied Japanese.
  • I'm planning to study abroad there.

I didn't study very hard in high school, but I took Spanish for 5 years.

I'm wondering if it's worth studying a language in college my first year and the possible benefits it carries.
