What's the biggest struggle in learning or maintaining multiple languages?

Hello, learners!

I've always been curious about what life is like for someone who has learnt multiple languages, or for someone on their way to getting there.

For example, how do you retain everything you've learned? I've always heard that language learning is all about using and repeating regularly, so how do people manage to keep track of multiple languages without letting some of them fade away? Are people who've already learnt several (TL) still eager to keep improving them, or is it mostly about maintaining them?
