Realistically how long would it take to become fluent in a heritage language?

i'm 18 and I grew up understanding my heritage language - tamazight (TL) - but never learned to read or write it. I can speak it at an intermediate level.

for anyone who has become fluent in a heritage language they already understood, how long did it take and what methods helped the most?
