For B2 and above does writing even help?

I’m not talking about giving a test or an official exam, if your sole purpose is to reach an advanced level in speaking and listening

Does writing even help develop the speaking skill? I understand at a lower level it’s great, you can see your grammar mistakes and improve but at B2 I don’t really make grammar mistakes in my TL when writing since I know all the grammar rules already.

Considering this, is it even worth the ROI to do writing practice when instead you could just spend that time honing your speaking directly?
