Am I the only one who's been learning languages without ever meeting native speakers in real life?

My friend from New Zealand came to visit last month. That's where I realized I never used English so seriously and practically ever in my entire life.

I live in an Arabic speaking country, and even if I learned 4 foreign languages to a conversational level, and I've been always consuming English speaking media and using it for academic purposes, I never had the chance to use any of the languages I learned so practically in real life.

I had to use English to introduce my culture, to help my friend communicate with shopkeepers, to express my feelings and talk about updates in different topics regarding my life and to ask him about his.

I think this was a very special first experience, and I'm looking forward to use other languages with their native speakers.
