How do you guys make friends in other languages?

First tip is to always start the convo saying “*In the language* you speak this language?” then, tip 2I have is to never switch languages. Like they’ll almost certainly try it but just refuse to switch. Example convo ” tu hables espanol“ them:”how doing bro“ ”muy bien muy bien“. Eventually they‘ll realize its taking more energy for you to speak in x and them In y and go to the langauge.This is actually the best case scenario, because they’ll stop instantly going “I don‘t understand you so let‘s switch” but instead keep going simpler and simpler or giving synonoms / sign language so you understand
