I've been planning on making an AI based language learning app. I notice that there are quite a number of them out there already, and even the LLMs can perform similar functionalities.
Naturally, I have my own spin on how it would be different than others, but still it would mostly be LLM with a wrapper. I'm wondering if I should even bother making it. Maybe the last thing the world needs is another language learning app, even if it is cool.
I made a simple prototype a while ago with Deepseek as my LLM (slow). I actually enjoyed using it to practice my crap German, but I notice that I was never very motivated to push myself to use more advance sentence structures or words that I didn't recall at the moment. I often had to resort to Google Translate to figure out how to say something correctly.
I really do enjoy the idea of running my own app and my own business solo, marketing it, providing a cool service to people and making some money from it.
Which ever one you are using, what are the pros and cons of your app? What features do you wish your chatbot based app would have that yours and others don't have?
