Learning two languages at the same time?

So I grew up speaking Punjabi, Hindi, and English. In high school (10th grade) I picked up French and I continued taking French class until my first two semesters of college because apparently that was the highest level of french class that they offered. I stopped being consistent for a while and, even now, I'm not consistent. I went to Paris recently and I start off really strong when talking but I eventually have a hard time answering questions that they eventually ended up switching to english haha. I was still able to communicate and get by, I think I did quite well.

But, here's the thing. I am seeing a girl who is German. I like languages and I think that I can pick up German quick, especially now since I have motivation. But my French is still something I have to get better at. I don't want to be a "jack of all trades" when it comes to language learning but I really want to pick up German.

Can someone give me some advice on what I can do?

Tack Tack!
