Am I wasting my time?

I wanted to learn a new language and ended up picking spanish because it is very widely spoken. I'm a native german speaker and ~c1 in english.

I used LanguageTransfer, Dreaming Spanish and Anki for a month now and made way more progress than I coild have imagined. But now I feel like I am wasting my time.

I tried thinking avout what my reasons were for learning to speak a new language and realized that my only possible drive could be to consume media in it's native form.

I don't like travelling abroad all that much and even if I did, I wouldn't wanna go to latin america for safety concerns. So I am left up with Spain, where english should be sufficient for the type of travelling I like (that is either relaxing for a week at a beach or exploring the nature of the country).

Also there aren't a lot of spaniards or latin people in germany and even if there were isn't it silly to learn a new language to talk to people? I know german perfectly well and if I want to talk to strangers here I can do so in german.

Now I thought it's still fine because the access to new media justifies the means. But after delving into the type of media put out by spanish speaking countries I am really disappointed.

Aside from Don Quijote, 100 Years of Loneliness and Ficciones there don't seem to be a lot of literature written in spanish that is considered "best of the best" stuff. And I can also just read the translations. They make new translations of such classics every few years anyways and they are usually really good. There are translations of Roberto Bolano, Isabel Allende and so on as well. In terms of movies we have great dubs and subs. I tried a lot of spanish music now and the only ones I enjoyed were people like Facundo Cabral and Atahualpa Yupanqui. Most modern spanish music is pretty bad to my ears and I really tried a lot. Though I dislike modern music generally so that's on me.

So now what am I left with? I have a decent grasp of spanish and if I ever need to learn it, I have a solid plan on how to go about it. But what's the point in learning it now? If any of you learned spanish, what was your motivation? Am I missing something?
