In Italian, or at least in the central region of Italy I am familiar with, it is common to hear people (especially elderly but not only), referring to a "colpo d'aria" (more or less "gust of wind") as what caused their back pain, neck pain or common cold. Are there similarly quirky reasons for minor health problems in other languages?
I am not really referring to those related to superstition - in Italian there is "malocchio" ("evil eye") in folklore, which I suspect also has equivalents in Turkish and Greek since I have seen some eye-shaped amulets.
