Advice for achieving language goals while studying or working in TL country but in NL environment?

For those who are studying or working and spend about 8 hours a day functioning in their native language but living in the country of the TL, what advice would you give them to getting C1+? When all of your coworkers or classmates are speaking your TL, it seems like more often than not that bubble traps people and can make individuals progress or even regress [citation needed] despite being in the TL country
