I am studying Spanish and Japanese and find that when consuming content in either language with subtitles in the target language, I can understand pretty well. However when I turn the subtitles off, and even though I know the vocabulary, I really struggle to understand or even process in time what has been said. For example I can know the words but not process the sentence. Did anyone else have this problem and was able to overcome it?
