Is it bad I want to learn a different language then my own family’s?

I’m pretty fluent in Mexican Spanish,I’m a intermediate and can understand almost every conversation, I love going to Mexico and staying there but I feel I get bored of the language as I hear it every day and nothings new. I really want to learn Portuguese and I actually enjoy learning it. I think I will practice Spanish every day so I’m fluent for my family and learn Portuguese on the side .
