What are the benefits of free writing (like journaling) without getting feedback and corrections?

I keep a journal for occasionally writing in Italian, but I rarely get corrections from a teacher on it or try to correct it myself. I’m wondering if it’s still helpful to write when I know I make errors and won’t get feedback? Are there still benefits to free writing before you know the language well enough to self correct most things? Is it possible it actually reinforces bad habits without feedback? What do you guys think?
