Learning a new language

So, i speak spanish, swedish and english, as well as basic german.

I learned the 3 first languages very early and german when i was 13, now i’m 20.

My question is, how do you learn a language most effectively? How do you go about learning and what are your best methods?

I’m interested in learning catalan and maybe japanese later on, although i imagine an asian language would be harder to learn, for me.
